Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the final seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
